Introduction

Begin the lesson by setting the context with an engaging slide featuring a thought-provoking question or image, such as a rainforest photo, and ask students what they notice or why it’s important. Introduce the topic by explaining the lesson's focus, like biodiversity and protecting ecosystems. Present key vocabulary using flashcards, such as “biodiversity,” “ecosystem,” and “habitat,” and provide simple explanations with examples, encouraging students to guess meanings or share ideas. Outline the lesson structure with a slide, explaining the activities: learning new words, completing a worksheet, and finishing with a fun game. Activate prior knowledge by asking questions like, “What animals or plants live in our local ecosystem?” or “What happens if an animal disappears from its habitat?” Connect these ideas to the upcoming activities, emphasizing how the introduction prepares them for deeper exploration. Conclude with enthusiasm, transitioning into the worksheet and later activities.

Worksheets

These worksheets are for kids to work independently to contribute to their autonomy and creativity. The worksheets should work to consolidate their own knowledge on the topic and relay an understanding of the role of ecosystems and biodiversity. The first answer for each activity is already displayed to help students of a lower language level. Exercises may also be demonstrated as a class if there is difficulty. Allocate 15 minutes to do the worksheet and 5 minutes to swap and mark it. This will allow students to review their work effectively.
